There is nothing worse than having your vacation come to a screeching stop because you found out that you are a victim of motion sickness. Everyone else is off having the time of their lives while you get to hug the toilet or your bed trying to wait out the nausea and possible vomiting. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound like a vacation to me. There are things that you can do to help treat and even prevent the motion sickness from happening in the first place though.

Over The Counter Medications – There are a variety of over the counter medications that you can use to help tackle the problem. You should make sure to read the side effects though, as some of them are not worth the risk. If you have any questions about them, make sure to speak to your doctor before making the decision to take them.

Wristbands for Motion Sickness – One of the hip new trends is to wear these wristbands that are sold that are actually used to help with motion sickness. They use a technology called acupressure that basically stops your body from feeling the symptoms that you normally would feel. It is completely natural and doesn’t require any medications.

Patches – There are also patches that you can put on that contain medication that gets absorbed through the skin. These can be a bit of an eye sore and they can hurt when you take them off, but they are effective none the less. They would be applied to the skin right behind your ear.

Ginger – One of the surprising choices that a lot of people use for motion sickness is ginger. You can make it in to a tea that you can carry around and drink or you can take ginger tablets. Whichever you decide, this is a foot in the right direction and really should help out a lot.

Watch What You Eat – People all over expect to just eat whatever they want, and then they wonder why they get sick when they travel on a cruise. You should eat crackers and bread if you have the chance before hand. Don’t try and eat nothing, as that will not do much for you. In fact, it could make things much worse for you in the short-term and long-term. You also want to make sure you are hydrated with water.

Should You Start To Feel Ill – If you do start to feel ill and you are worried about it, get to the center of the boat, and perhaps the top as well. Then you want to focus on the horizon in the distance. This is a sure fire way to make you feel better. You may also try lying down as well.
